Coast Aluminum commissions cut-to-length line
Coast Aluminum has successfully started up a new cut-to-length line at its US facility in Kent, Washington. The line was supplied by Andritz Herr-Voss Stamco Inc and processes 0.25” x 72” wide stainless steel and aluminium and has an incoming coil capacity of 20,000 lbs.
Aludium Announces Lionel Chapis as Chief Executive Officer
Aludium, supplier of aluminium solutions for the distribution and industrial market in Europe, has appointed Lionel Chapis as the company's new Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2020. Chapis, who most recently served as Managing Director, Automotive Solutions, at Constellium, brings over two decades of experience in the aluminum industry to this new role. Oliver Bell, who has served as Interim Chief Executive Officer, will support Chapis during the transition period through March and then continue in his role as member of the Board of Directors and Operating Partner of Atlas Holdings, which owns Aludium.
Chalco Ruimin and Tenova sign FAC for aluminium lines
Tenova and Chalco Ruimin Co. have officially signed the Final Acceptance Certificates for a continuous annealing and chemical pre-treatment line for processing aluminium strip coils. The aluminium lines have been installed at a new plant in the Fuzhou Economic Technical Development Area on China’s south-eastern coast. The two new lines process automotive and aerospace industry grade aluminium alloys (series 5xxx, 6 xxx and 7 xxx), with strip width ranging from 1,000 up to 2,200 mm and thickness ranging from 0.5 up to 4 mm.
SMS group to modernize the exit end of Constellium’s hot strip mill at Ravenswood plant
SMS group has received an order from Constellium Rolled Products Ravenswood, LLC, USA, for the modernization of the 112-inch finishing mill exit end of its aluminium hot strip mill. This modernization project covers the replacement of two ‘constant passline’ coilers with a single fixed position coiler. The aluminium hot strip mill is a key production unit at Ravenswood and is essential for providing hot rolled coils for further processing by the cold rolling mills. This revamp will provide Constellium with improved equipment reliability and reduced equipment downtime.
Primetals to supply automation technology to the rolling mills of Ulsan Aluminium in Korea
Primetals Technologies has received an order from Ulsan Aluminium Ltd to supply new automation technology to the company’s hot rolling mill and cold rolling mill no. 2 in Ulsan in the southeast of Korea. Both rolling mills will be equipped with new technological control systems based on a new automation platform. The new automation technology will improve the reliability and availability of the rolling mills. The modernization of the two rolling mills is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018.
