20th Die Casting Conference: programme now online
What are the new technologies in the die casting process? What are the trends in processes and materials? What's happening at the user end? These are the kinds of questions that will be addressed at the 20th Die Casting Congress, which takes place from 14-16 January 2020 parallel to the Euroguss trade fair in Nuremberg. The congress is co-organised by the VDD (Association of German Die Casting Foundries) and the BDG (Germany Foundry Association). It attracts representatives of die casting foundries, the associated supply industry, universities and institutes.
European Foundry Industry Sentiment, October 2019: Are perspectives bottoming out?
The European Foundry Industry Sentiment fell slightly in October. The European foundries’ assessment of the current business situation was somewhat worse than in the previous month. By contrast, the outlook has improved slightly, but remains on a low level. This is in line with the slight improvement of the Business Climate Indicator of the Euro area.
Pyrotek completes new manufacturing plant in Dubai
Pyrotek Inc. is to complete construction in November of a new, 6,185m 2 manufacturing facility in Dubai, UAE. The plant, which is scheduled to be occupied in January 2020, will serve and supply the rapidly growing aluminium smelting industry in the region.
Business climate in the European foundry industry slightly clouded
The business climate in the European foundry industry has dropped slightly in September. Foundries were once again less satisfied with their ongoing business, and their expectations for the next six months remain sceptical. This is in line with the trend of the European industry: The EU Commission’s Business Climate Indicator shows that the manufacturing sector in the Euro area is under severe pressure. Several downgrades of forecasts – both for new registrations and the production of passenger cars, as well as for the sales of machines – are already a sign of lower investment activity and of further slowdown beyond the turn of the year. Consequently, the current demand development for casted components and production plans do not offer any improvement in the coming months.
GF Casting Solutions to divest two European automotive iron casting plants
The trend towards lighter vehicles continues to have a substantial impact on the automotive industry. In this context, GF Casting Solutions, a division of GF, will have a stronger focus on light metal casting whilst reducing its presence in iron casting in Europe. As a consequence, the German iron casting plants located in Singen and Mettmann have been divested to members of the management of GF Casting Solutions, effective retroactively as from 1 December 2018.
