Trimet gives automotive division an international profile – Joint Venture with Bohai Automotive Systems

The joint venture with Bohai aims at strengthening the international footprint of the Automotive division as a system supplier to the globally operating car manufacturers, for whom China is a particularly important growth market. With the joint venture Trimet is making the jobs at its plants in Harzgerode and Sömmerda future-proof.

Bohai Automotive is an internationally operating automotive supplier based in China. The largest shareholders of Bohai Automotive Systems are Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd and Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd. Bohai has more than 3,700 employees and predominantly manufactures pistons and other components for engines and vehicles.

Trimet Automotive supplies the car industry with bespoke solutions and light constructional components. At its Harzgerode and Sömmerda plants a total of more than 1,000 employees produce roughly 13 million die-cast components per year, including mechatronic parts for automatic transmissions of the latest generation, structural components, motor blocks, and gearboxes. In addition to casting and mechanical processing, the company’s service range also focuses on research, development, and calculation of new aluminium components. This includes in-house tool design and mould construction.
